Predators: Lions, Cheetahs, Leopards
Stealth, strength, and strategy define the predators of the Okavango Delta. This collection is divided into three key categories: Lions, Cheetahs, and Leopards, each showcasing the unique behaviors and relationships of these apex predators. From the commanding presence of a lion surveying its territory to the quiet intensity of a leopard resting in the shade, these predators are both fearsome and fascinating.
One of the most special encounters was with a mother cheetah and her cub—a tender yet powerful display of their bond. The cub, full of curiosity, tried to be bold but never strayed far from his mother’s side.
One lion encounter left an especially deep impression on me—a moment of connection I will never forget. You can read the full story here: Wildlife Photography: Close Encounters with Botswana’s Lions.

Lions
There’s nothing quite like locking eyes with a wild lion. One particular encounter left a lasting impression on me—the intensity of his gaze, the slow, deliberate steps as he moved through the grass, and the raw power he exuded. It was a moment I’ll never forget. You can read the full story here: Wildlife Photography: Close Encounters with Botswana’s Lions.
Cheetah
A mother cheetah and her cub—grace and innocence side by side. Watching her teach her young one the ways of the wild was a privilege, from playful moments to quiet rests in the shade. The bond between them was beautiful to witness and even more incredible to photograph.
Leopard
Honestly, I’m a bit disappointed with the leopard photos I captured. We didn’t have many opportunities to photograph them, and the settings weren’t ideal—either high up in a tree or with really cluttered backgrounds. But that’s okay; it just gives me the perfect excuse to return to Botswana and try again!
