Hessian Lake

Capturing the perfect reflection takes patience, and Hessian Lake at Bear Mountain State Park rewarded me on my third visit with this stunning mirror image. The vibrant autumn foliage, reflecting flawlessly in the still waters, made the wait worthwhile—a true testament to the beauty of persistence in photography. The rocky outcrop in the foreground adds depth, leading the eye toward the mountain’s gentle slopes, where the trees seem to glow beneath the overcast sky.

Beyond the visual beauty, the scene was alive with the playful energy of the local wildlife. We enjoyed watching the squirrels darting through the leaves, their tiny paws rustling the fallen foliage as they eagerly searched for nuts 🐿️🌰. Their presence added a delightful contrast to the lake’s stillness, making the moment even more special. Hessian Lake’s calm waters and striking reflections create a dreamlike atmosphere—one that invites the viewer to pause and immerse themselves in the tranquility of the changing season.
