While camped at Betty’s Beach, we had the privilege of watching a Southern Right Whale mother and her calf spend several hours swimming quietly in the bay just offshore.
From our campsite, we could see them moving together through the calm water, surfacing and diving in a slow, steady rhythm. It was a peaceful and memorable encounter — one of those moments that remind you how special the Southern Ocean really is.
I also took the opportunity to capture some drone footage, filming from a safe distance to show their gentle movements and the vast expanse of water they called home that day.
